Golden Dragon Restaurant

Welcome to Golden Dragon Restaurant, a culinary gem nestled in the heart of Chinatown, Los Angeles. Located at 960 N Broadway, this authentic Chinese restaurant is not just a place to eat; it's a vibrant experience of rich flavors and traditional dishes that pay homage to the heritage of Chinese cuisine.

Golden Dragon is celebrated for its exquisite dim sum, featuring a diverse selection that is both tantalizing and delightful. For only $4.60, you can indulge in an assortment of steamed delights, including:

  • Steamed Custard Buns
  • Baked BBQ Pork Buns
  • Spareribs with Black Bean Paste
  • Har Gow Shrimp Dumplings
  • Fried Shrimp Turnovers

Each dish showcases the restaurant's commitment to quality and authenticity. Guests rave about the steamed BBQ pork buns and wonton soup, which pair perfectly with a bustling atmosphere that evokes the traditional bustling restaurants found in China.

Indeed, the restaurant can get quite busy, especially during peak hours. As Peter Bonamici noted, it's best to visit when the crowds are thinner, giving you the perfect opportunity to enjoy the culinary hits without feeling rushed. Golden Dragon’s ambiance is lively, filled with local patrons—including many uncles and aunties—who come together to savor their favorites.

While the service may come off as brusque to some, it’s a testament to the authenticity of the experience. The focus here is on the food—sophisticated flavors served up with speed and efficiency, allowing you more time to focus on the feast before you.

Besides the dim sum, the menu also includes beloved dishes such as Kung Pao Shrimp and various hot pots that warm the soul, with options like Seafood with Vermicelli Hot Pot priced at just $18.95. The portions are generous, ensuring you leave satisfied every time.

For those adventurers seeking the true local experience, Golden Dragon offers delightful comfort while challenging palates to embrace richer flavors. Even with feedback about occasionally over-sweetened dishes, like the garlic eggplant, patrons consistently return for their favorites and new dishes alike.

In conclusion, Golden Dragon Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine in a setting that invites culinary exploration. Whether you're a dim sum novice or an experienced enthusiast, this restaurant provides both a warm welcome and a deliciously memorable dining experience.

Come hungry, and be prepared for a delightful journey of flavors!

Peak Dim-Sum done fast right here in Chinatown. Golden Dragon gets extremely busy so its best to go on off hours either right as they open or after the lunch rush. Recommend a lot of their dishes, most are hits like the Pork Buns, Wonton Soup, and Shumai, and others seems like pandering towards an LA audience like anything deep fried. I’ve seen them go table to tables and try to peddle dishes that probably don't sell as well or are sitting. Also if you NEED America style service where they hold your hand and act nice, do not come here. This is authentic Chinese food, service is not going to be great, and most of you will think staff is rude because you need to flag them down, but thats how you can tell a good restaurant apart from a bad one, their food is SO GOOD. 10/10 would definitely recommend coming with a larger group so you can taste everything on the menu.

I truly enjoy that this establishment is still going strong over the years. Ordered takeout here and was impressed by the large portions. My only complaint is that they go a little too heavy on the sugar / corn syrup. Chinese style eggplant with garlic shouldn’t be that sweet! The beef chow fun and fried shrimps were lovely. Otherwise though loved it here and order here regularly :)

Good dim sum with fast friendly service. Went on Sat morning. Friendly staff auntie walked around with porridge and beef tripes, fried stuff eggplants, rice noodle Chinese donuts etc. Wish I could eat more as two of us were stuff with steam dim sum already. Reasonably price. Not a fancy restaurant but it is convenient located at the heart of Chinatown. Lots of local uncles and aunties enjoying their dim sum.
